On April 18 in Paris, the 75/25 team from Ukraine took the third place in the finals of the Ace Manager – The Passing Shot, the fourth annual round of the BNP Paribas online business game. More than 14,000 participants from 145 countries took part in the on-line first round of the game, but only 5 teams made their way to the finals.
During the finals, the Ukrainian students and their rivals from Singapore, Russia (2 teams), and Sweden demonstrated the best of their knowledge and business skills. The most gifted competitors were assessed by a jury of professors from participating universities and top managers of BNP Paribas. The Singaporean students won the first place, capturing the main award of EUR 9, 000. The Swedish team took the second place, winning EUR 3,000; the Ukrainian team placed third and won EUR 1,500. All finalists also received tickets to tennis tournaments and internship opportunities at BNP Paribas offices.
The 75/25 team consisted of 3 students from the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE): Arseniy Chobanu, Serhiy Kiyashko, and Serhiy Meleschuk. All three participated in last year’s game, but represented different teams, without making it to the top 5. This year, the Ukrainians managed to solve all 14 cases of the on-line round and went to Paris for the finals.
“On the first day, we have visited 2 Opéra, the Concept store of BNP Paribas, located near the Opéra, in Paris. On the following day, we have started the competition with a Corporate and Institutional Banking Case, and afterwards, we were asked to give our vision of the bank of tomorrow, which was really challenging! The final ceremony took place at the headquarters of BNP Paribas, in the Orangerie. It has been very exciting to participate to this competition, and a great opportunity to stay in Paris, with all the other teams! These will remain good memories! ” the students said.
To complete the task, participants had to manage a number of business tasks related to BNP Paribas activity in three key fields: Retail Banking, Investment Solutions, and Corporate and Institutional Banking.
